Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal pieces.
  3. Slice the olives in half lengthwise.
Shaping the Spider Bodies
  1. Roll each dough piece into a small circle, about 3-4 inches in diameter.
  2. Using a knife, cut a small triangle from the bottom of each circle for the spider's body.
  3. Place the shaped dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Adding the Spider Legs
  1. For each spider, cut 4 small triangles from the remaining dough scraps.
  2. Attach these to the sides of the spider body, pinching to seal.
Assembling the Spider Pizzas
  1. Brush each spider body with pizza sauce.
  2. Sprinkle with shredded cheese, covering the sauce.
  3. Place an olive half on each side of the spider's body for eyes.
  4. If using, add a basil leaf to each spider for a web effect.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone if you have one. You can also prepare the spiders up to a day ahead, then bake just before serving.
