Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal pieces.
- Slice the olives in half lengthwise.
Shaping the Spider Bodies
- Roll each dough piece into a small circle, about 3-4 inches in diameter.
- Using a knife, cut a small triangle from the bottom of each circle for the spider's body.
- Place the shaped dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Adding the Spider Legs
- For each spider, cut 4 small triangles from the remaining dough scraps.
- Attach these to the sides of the spider body, pinching to seal.
Assembling the Spider Pizzas
- Brush each spider body with pizza sauce.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheese, covering the sauce.
- Place an olive half on each side of the spider's body for eyes.
- If using, add a basil leaf to each spider for a web effect.
Baking
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone if you have one. You can also prepare the spiders up to a day ahead, then bake just before serving.
