Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 medium Apples Choose firm, sweet apples like Jonagold, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn.
  • 0.25 cup Brown Sugar Adjust to taste. You can also use coconut sugar or maple syrup for a healthier option.
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon Ground cinnamon adds warmth and flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Butter Optional, for added richness. Can be substituted with coconut oil or omitted.

Equipment

  • Baking sheet or oven-safe dish
  • Aluminum foil (optional)
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spoon for filling apples

Method

Step 1: Preparing the Ingredients
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and pat dry the apples. If using whole apples, core them using an apple corer or melon baller. If pre-cutting, slice the apples in half horizontally and remove the core.
Step 2: Filling the Apples
  1. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Stuff each apple with the sugar-cinnamon mixture, pressing down gently to ensure it stays in place. If using pre-cut apples, place them cut-side up and sprinkle the mixture on top.
Step 3: Adding Butter (Optional)
  1. Dot each apple with a small piece of butter, if using. The butter will melt and create a delicious, caramel-like sauce.
Step 4: Baking the Apples
  1. Place the apples on a baking sheet or oven-safe dish. If using whole apples, you can place them in a muffin tin for easier serving.
  2. Cover the baking sheet or dish with aluminum foil to prevent the apples from drying out. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the filling is bubbly.
  3. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes to caramelize the tops, if desired.

Notes

Start checking the apples at the 20-minute mark. Using foil helps prevent the apples from drying out, but it's not necessary if you prefer a slightly crispy exterior.
