Cuisine: Fall

Ingredients

Fruits
  • 1 each apple
  • 1 each orange
  • 1 each lemon
Spices
  • 5 each cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp ginger

Equipment

  • Large Pot with Lid

Method

Instructions
  1. Wash and cut the fruits into chunks.
  2. Crush the nutmeg with a mortar and pestle if using whole.
  3. Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Fill the pot with water until the ingredients are mostly covered.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Let the mixture simmer, with the lid slightly ajar, for at least 2 hours. The longer it simmers, the stronger the scent.
  6. Stir the mixture occasionally to prevent burning. Add more water as needed to keep the ingredients mostly covered.

Notes

Use a slow cooker for a longer simmer without supervision. For a stronger scent, add more spices or fruit. To make it last longer, simmer it on the lowest setting overnight.
