Step 1: Preparing the Ingredients
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples. Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, cranberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Mix well and set aside.
Step 2: Cooking the Main Components
- In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a fork, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Transfer the fruit mixture to your baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the fruit.
Step 3: Assembling the Dish
- Bake the crisp for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit filling is bubbling around the edges.

For a crunchier topping, you can press it down slightly before baking.
